JUST A CARPENTER?
Before
I became a Christian and particularly as a child I had thought that Jesus
was nothing more than a character from a history book. A carpenter from
Nazareth or “Baby Jesus” of the nativity. I had no idea that He even
existed at all apart from stories I had heard. It’s clear that multitudes
of others think the same. This got me thinking of what He has revealed
of Himself to me as I have got to know Him. Reflecting on this I
realised of course that He is much, much more than just a carpenter and
so I started to write a song on this theme. Quite unconsciously as I was
writing, the truths that He is among many other things, the only way
to God, the only truth of God and the only life from God
began to be woven into the fabric of the song.
Being a country music
fan it was inevitable that my songs have that feel about them so if your
not into country music then, in love, I make absolutely no apologies whatsoever
and challenge you with the question WHY
NOT? Don’t you know that if it
ain’t country it ain’t music!!!!!
Enjoy and share freely
God Bless

JUST A CARPENTER?
You’re more than just
a carpenter to me
You’re more than just
a man from history
When I need some direction
and the path’s not clear to see
You’re not a mystery,
You are the way for me
You’re more than just
a carpenter to me
You’re more than just
the babe they came to see
When lies have got my
mind locked up and I can’t find the key
You’re not a mystery,
You are the truth to me
Bridge
And when I need to put
my trust in you
You’re always there to
help and take me through
When others let me down
I know that you will still be there
Every day, just a prayer
away
You’re more than just
a carpenter to me
You’re more than just
a man from Gallilee
When I am tempted to
believe that death can set me free
You’re not a mystery,
You are the life in me
Repeat Bridge
You’re more than just
a carpenter to me
You’re more than just
a man hung on a tree
When I could never meet
the debt required to set me free
You were a friend to
me, You paid the price for me
When I was bound and
shackled to a life of slavery
You broke the chains
for me, You gave Your life for me
